Scientific paper on biochar in contaminated groundwater remediation published

BEACON scientists have recently published the results of trials with various feedstocks and pyrolysis process conditions to produce a biochar which can adsorb metals from contaminated groundwater. The paper, published in Bioresource Technology, can be read here: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0960852416306496

Of the feedstocks tested, L. perenne performed best in terms of zinc adsorption performance, while slow pyrolysis at 300 oC achieved optimum char yield and zinc adsorption performance.
